Goodbye June… Lens Whacking

This month’s collage was done using a technique called lens whacking, which is when you take the lens off the camera body and  hold it in front of the camera while taking a photo. This is the first time I have really tried this technique and maybe some people may not like it, but for me it is a form of art and experimentation and I think that is always a great and worth while thing. I also adopted some ideas from the lomography community. If you aren’t familiar with lomography please go check it out. There are SO many different types of homographic cameras out there and they are so fun to use and see how your pictures turn out, but one of the things I love about lomography is their attitude towards their art. Lomography has 10 golden rules and I think everyone can benefit from reading and putting them into practice. One of the golden rules is, ‘You don’t have to know beforehand what you captured on film’ followed by, ‘ Afterward either.’ I think that is such a great way of thinking about photography. It isn’t always about getting the perfect photo, but about taking the photo. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this collage… I enjoyed making it.
