Aaron + Dre | engaged | Joshua Tree, California

These two love birds are tying the knot next month and while I am so happy for them I am incredibly sad to not be able to be there to support them on their special day. However, we were able to take a little drive out to Joshua Tree National Park and have some fun. I love these photos and I love the people in them more. You guys make an amazing couple and I expect big things for and from you in the future!

Michael + Arielle | married | Erie, Colorado

Michael and Arielle’s wedding had some of the most spectacular views I have seen at a wedding. On a beautiful open golf course in Erie, Colorado these two tied the knot as summer thunderstorms hit the Rockie Mountains in the distance making for a crazy, amazing sunset. I remember when I first stepped out of my car at the Colorado National Golf Club I was caught off guard by how windy it was and then seeing that the wedding ceremony was set up out in the middle of one of the fairways I was a little nervous, but it was as if the weather knew it was a special day for Michael and Arielle and it calmed down just before the ceremony. I have to be honest and say I have never seen a groom get driven down the aisle on the back of a golf cart driven by his parents, but Michael pulled it off. After their beautiful and touching ceremony everyone headed up to the club house for the reception where they had seating both indoors and outdoors. People sat and socialized with friends and family as the sun set behind the thunderheads and gorgeous Flat Irons. Add in some great dancing and it makes for one memorable night that I was so fortunate to be a part of. Wishing you two the best and missing Colorado everyday.

Heather + BJ + a little more | maternity | Bend, Oregon

What could be better than photographing a happy couple in the snow? Add in an adorable baby bump, some awesomely tiny TOMS, a cute little onesie, and you get Heather and BJ’s sweet maternity session. It was especially fun because I am related to these two and that little bump is now my first nephew.
I cannot wait for the opportunity to photograph this little guy now that he is out in the world and I am so proud of BJ and Heather for being such incredible parents already. This kid is going to have more love surrounding him that he will know what to do with:)

Jonny + Meilani | married | Vancouver, Washington

I love what I do and I hope that is obvious to both my clients and everyone who looks at my photos. I love that every wedding is unique in how each couple interprets how they want to celebrate the joining of their lives. BUT… if someone were to ask me what my ideal wedding would look like… it would be pretty darn close to Jonny and Meilani’s wedding last Summer.
Let’s start from the beginning… I met Jonny in college. He played basketball and was/is quite good at it. Soon after I met is adorable girlfriend, Meilani. They are one of those rare couples that starts dating in high school and actually survives the transition into college, and beyond. Jonny and Meilani are an amazing couple, laid back, fun, happy people who are also very family oriented. Jonny has like 18 siblings, ok… that is an exaggeration, but as you will see from their giant wedding party, which was mostly family, they are family people. They also both talented photographers.
So, let’s recap… a fun, laid back, family oriented couple who is also into photography… this makes for ideal clients. Then let’s add in the location of their wedding. Jonny and Meilani were married at a family friend’s amazing home outside of Vancouver, Washington. The house was at the end of a long driveway lined on one side by a white picket fence and the other side was a big grassy field. I then went around the house and saw where the ceremony was going to be held… a gently sloping grassy hill with GIANT evergreen trees as its back drop, which were also on the west side of the yard creating incredible shade throughout the day (perfect lighting). Then the reception area… it was in another part of the perfectly manicured lawn and had lights strung across, simple tables with perfect floral arrangements for an outdoor summer wedding, and jars full of honey sticks as favors. Perfection. Add in lots of happy family and friends and there you have it, my ideal wedding to photograph. Oh, but it gets better… one of their family friends brought his gorgeous classic car as their getaway car and let us drive it up into the grassy field and take photos with it as the sun was going down. Beyond perfection.
Jonny and Meilani, I want to sincerely thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding day. You two are meant for each other and created the perfect day to celebrate your love.

Jonny - I’m not sure we could ever say THANK YOU enough. We will scream your amazingness for all of eternity.

Looking forward to many more shoots for years to come. If we follow in my parent’s footsteps and knock out 18 children then you’ll be busy for years :)

admin - hahaha… I look forward to photographing your litter of children, Jonny :)

Colby + Lauryn | married | Riverside, California

Lauryn has been a best friend to me since we were both sick and missed a class trip in 4th grade. The next day while everyone else in the class was drawing a picture of their favorite thing from the trip to the aquarium we were put together to draw our bedrooms. It was that day that Lauryn and I learned that we both had trundle beds… somehow that sparked this amazing friendship that I am so incredibly blessed to be a part of for over fifteen years.
So, you can imagine my excitement and joy when Lauryn and Colby asked me to not only be in the wedding, but also to photograph it. With the help of the wonderful Jennifer Young we were able to tag team the wedding day and capture the beautiful details and moments of their big red barn wedding:)
On this day, Lauryn’s birthday, I am so happy to share their wedding photos and relive such a crazy and fun day. Lauryn has only been begging me to do her ‘bloggy’ since about a week after their wedding, which was last July… I am a little slow, but better late than never, right? Lauryn, I love you and I cannot wait for the next fifteen years (and beyond) of our friendship. Colby is incredibly lucky to have you, as you are lucky to have him and it makes my heart warm to see you both so happy. I hope you enjoy this bloggy and wish Lauryn a very happy birthday with your comments!
Oh, and as a special treat… since I was in the wedding… I shared some photos of myself in this post, including one with my ‘family’:)Love you all.
